Utah County cities win LED streetlights
Uncle Sam is footing the bill for three Utah County cities to swap out the old lamps of nearly 1, 000 streetlights with super-efficient LED fixtures.
Springville, Payson and Eagle Mountain are among 14 member cities of Utah Associated Municipal Power Systems that get a share of a $1, 165, 772 federal energy conservation grant to go LED (light-emitting diode). It’s an understated improvement, but the savings will pile up quickly in energy consumption as well as money and man-power that go into replacing spent bulbs.
