Below is a list of all our programs this week at the library. Come and enjoy these activities and find some new summer reading material!

Tues, June 24                        3 sessions              Up the Beanstalk!

This is our summer reading program for ages 2-7 with stories, puppets, crafts, and games.  Sign up online – ticket required.  We will have sessions of “Up the Beanstalk!” at 9:30, 10:30, & 11:30 on Tuesday and Wednesday this week.

Join licensed yoga instructor Jolene Hale for this 45 minute class.   Jolene graduated from BYU with a BS in Exercise Science. She has practiced yoga for 12 years and has been teaching for the last 6 years. She is very excited to be sharing her love of yoga with everyone in Springville. Experienced yogis and anyone new to yoga are encouraged to attend.

If you love Justin Timberlake, Fergie, Beyoncé, Rihanna, Flo Rida, and Chris Brown then this Hip Hop class is for you! Whether you like to pop-lock-and drop it or just get your groove on, you’re in for a good time AND serious work out!

Your Hip Hop instructor Britney Lindsey comes from Northern California and is 24 years-old where music and dancing largely influenced her life!. No judging in this class! Come to smile, sweat, and party!

Thurs, June 26                         7:00pm                    Bird Watching for Beginners!

Come for the second in our summer series “Know the –ologies”.  This first class is on ornithology – Birds!  If you like to put up bird feeders and watch the birds, or enjoy seeing and hearing birds while you are out and about, and want to know more about what you are seeing/hearing, this class is for you!  Keeli Marvel, an avid birder, professional biologist and current president of the Utah County Birders will introduce the basic equipment needed for bird watching and how to identify some of the common birds you might see in your yard or neighborhood.

It’s the 3rd Friday of the month, which means it’s Teen Night at 6:30 pm tonight! Join us for an awesome evening as we make our own frisbees, play Ultimate Frisbee, watch I Am Number Four, and enjoy snow cones! It’s gonna be EPIC!

Our “-ology” classes start this Thursday, June 19th.  Plan on coming to listen and discuss Mycology with Meg Frost…..”Foraging for Mushrooms in Utah: What Is It and Can I Eat It?”   If you are participating in our adult summer reading program, attending this class means you can cross out one of the boxes on your way to BINGO!

Haven’t signed up for our Summer Reading programs?  No worries!  Come in anytime to sign up the whole family. We have Children, Teen, and Adult programs.

Our children’s summer classes kick off this week with  1, 2, 3 Blast Off! and Mad Science Lab….Enter If You Dare! Click on the Children’s Events tab online to get free tickets.  We will also have a puppet show on Thursday. Tickets aren’t required for this one, so just come at either 10:30 or 11:30 am.

Tues, June 17                          12:00pm                  Books & Bites – Adult Book Club                                                                                                                               Join us for a lively discussion of Ex Libris: Confessions of a Common Reader by Anne Fadiman.  Next month’s book – These Is My Words by Nancy Turner – will be available at the adult information desk any time after today’s meeting. Make sure and check out a copy!

Come learn about the mushrooms that grow here, from the Uintas to your backyard, and get information about foraging them for yourself!

It’s Art City Days in Springville this week!  Monday is our Teddy Bear Tea, and Tuesday through Friday will be the Friends of the Library book sale.  We’ll also have special hours for the week.  Look through the information below for details:

The Teddy Bear Tea is Monday, June 9th. We’ll have 5 sessions – 9:30, 10:30, 11:30, 12:30 & 1:30.  Both the 12:30 and 1:30 sessions have tickets still available.  Click on the blue box on our homepage that says “Reserve your spot for upcoming children’s events” to get tickets and more information!

Summer Reading Sign Ups Begin This Week!

This is the beginning of our Summer Reading Program Sign Ups!  We have programs for every age – Children, Teen, and Adult – so make sure to keep the whole family reading this summer with all of our fun activities and classes.  Come in anytime beginning Monday, June 2nd and sign up for all our summertime fun!

 

Please remember that we won’t have our weekly children’s programs this week.  We are getting organized for summer reading!  You can sign up for the Teddy Bear Tea (Monday, June 9th) right now though.  On our homepage, click on the box “Reserve your spot for upcoming children’s events”.   You can choose one of the five session times and get your tickets.  As always, the tickets are free…We are simply using this system to even out the session sizes so that everyone can have lots of fun!  Watch for more of our summer events to be posted on the Eventbrite link soon!

Then plan on coming in the library beginning June 2nd to sign up for all of our summer reading programs (children, teen, and adult)!  We have a science theme for all of our reading programs this year: Children’s is “FIZZ, BOOM, READ”;  Teen’s is “Spark a Reaction”; and adult’s is “Literary Elements”.  We will have lots of fun classes and activities based on these themes!

Our yoga class will meet upstairs at 8pm on May 27th and Zumba continues on Saturdays at 10am.  Watch for our new hip hop class beginning in June!
