Special events this week include Books & Bites on Tuesday at noon; our upcycling crafts class on Wednesday at 7 pm (Bring an exacto knife and doodads for decorating. We’ll provide the old books and ideas!); Teen Lego Mania Night on Friday; and a display on Saturday commemorating the construction companies that started here in Springville.  Read about all these and more below.

Tues, Sept 16               12:00pm           Books & Bites Book Club

This month’s discussion is The Whistling Season by Ivan Doig. Join us in the board room for a great conversation among fellow book lovers!  Next month’s book will be available for check out at our front desk after this meeting.

Tues, Sept 16               8:00pm             Yoga

Join licensed yoga instructor Jolene Hale for this 45 minute class on our second floor.
Jolene graduated from BYU with a BS in Exercise Science. She has practiced yoga for 12 years and has been teaching for the last 6 years. She is very excited to be sharing her love of yoga with everyone in Springville. Experienced yogis and anyone new to yoga are encouraged to attend.

This is the first of our new Discover Series…….Plan on an upcycling/crafts class to inspire you for the holidays!  We’ll have projects using old magazines and books.

Thurs, Sept 18             5:00pm             Hip Hop Class

If you love Justin Timberlake, Fergie, Beyoncé, Rihanna, Flo Rida, and Chris Brown then this Hip Hop class is for you! Whether you like to pop-lock-and drop it or just get your groove on, you’re in for a good time AND serious work out!

Your Hip Hop instructor Britney Lindsey comes from Northern California and is 24 years-old where music and dancing largely influenced her life! Dancing since age 10, she has instructed hip hop for all levels, coached cheer for 7 years, and danced every day in some way or form- grocery stores, around the bedroom- you name it. No judging in this class! Come to smile, sweat, and party!

 

Thurs, Sept 18              6:00pm             Stories in Motion

1st and 3rd Thursdays, 6:00 – 7:00 pm for 5-8 yrs.
2nd and 4th Thursdays, 6:00 – 7:00 pm for 9-12 yrs.

Stories in Motion is a story time program like no other! Come experience the magic as the children’s literature we explore comes to life through creative movement. As we dive into and dance through both old and new story favorites, children will have the opportunity to make meaningful personal connections, participate in creative and divergent thinking, and develop kinesthetic awareness and expression. Appropriate for both both boys and girls and all skill levels, this story time promises not to be forgotten!

Space is limited. Sign up online for these 2 hour workshops taught by BYU Technology Education students. These workshops will be held in our computer room on Saturday mornings from 10 am – 12 pm.  September’s topics are the following:

Wow friends and family with your professional home videos!  Sign up online.
September 6 – Cinematography Overview (what goes into shooting a video and what equipment you can use if you aren’t making professional videos)
September 13 – Basic Techniques (framing, angles, etc.)
September 20 – Film Editing (using editing software)                                                              September 27 – Share your project (publishing and sharing through social media)

 

Sat, Sept 20    10:00am   Contractor Legacy Park Dedication/ Construction Exhibit

Come into the library’s multi-purpose room after the dedication and look at historical items that chronicle the history of the many construction companies that started right here in Springville!
